Install BizTalk Server 2006 R2 on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 – Part 3: Installing Internet Information Services 6.0 on Windows Server 2003

Installing Internet Information Service 6.0 on Windows Server 2003

In order to install IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003, you need to first enable Application Server.

To enable ASP.NET on a server running Windows Server 2003 by using Add or Remove Programs

1. In the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

2. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Add/Remove Windows Components.

3. Within the Windows Components Wizard, select the Application Server checkbox and then click the Details… button.

4. In the Application Server dialog box, select ASP.NET checkbox and click OK.

5. In the Windows Components Wizard, click Next to begin the ASP.NET installation.



6. Once the Windows Components Wizard has finished configuring ASP.NET, click Internet Information Services (IIS) in Windows Components Wizard and click the Details…. button

7. Within the Internet Information Services (IIS) window, select SMTP Service and World Wide Web Service checkboxes and click OK.

8. Finally click Next button to install Internet Information Services on Windows Server 2003.

Installing Microsoft .Net Framework

Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 will be installed once you install SQL Server 2005. However, if you are using SQL Server 2000 then you need to manually install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package which can be downloaded from the following http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=55146 link.

It is recommended to use SQL Server 2005 along with BizTalk Server 2006 R2. However, you can also use SQL Server 2000 along with BizTalk Server 2006 R2.

Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 Redistribution Package is required if you want to use Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) along with SQL Server 2000.

Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and Info Path 2003 with SP2

Microsoft Office Excel 2003 SP2 or Microsoft Office Excel 2007 needs to be installed if you want to use Business Activity Monitoring (BAM).

Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 SP2 or Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 needs to be installed if you want to use Business Activity Services (BAS).

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with Visual C# .Net

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with Visual C# .NET is required for BizTalk Server applications development and debugging. However, there is no need to install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 on a production system.
